What has been a hidden and dark secret for many years began to unravel with a visit by State Rep. Bob Merski (PA-2, Erie) to the City of Erie Police Department in January of 2025.
Detectives called him in for questioning because of a complaint that he befriended a teen boy over social media after a public event in a school, tried to groom him into his club, and requested nude photos of the child’s genitals so that he could coach him on how to stretch it and make it bigger (an activity that requires sexual arousal).
Because of gaps in the law, he was never charged, but the boy’s mom won’t let Bob forget what he did to her son.
On Facebook, the mom says “Robert Merski is a predator who uses his position to engage with minors. It’s been documented more than once. I myself called police and provided pages of conversations where he basically tried to groom my then 16 year old child. Nothing happened. Sue me if I’m lying Robert.”
In reply to another post exposing Bob Merski’s sickening behavior, the mom says “He did the same to my 16 year old son. Play for play.” She also shared the post saying “Robert Merski is a predator. Ask me how I know.”
